Clare Baker runs Arcklebear Gungdogs. She inherited the love of the countryside and field sports from her grandfather, who was a gamekeeper in Herefordshire. Clare started working his Labradors in the late 1990s at the age of ten and was soon competing in Gundog Working Tests, as well as going beating, picking up and shooting.

Clare was appointed to The Kennel Club’s A Panel of Field Trial Judges for Retrievers in 2023.

She competes in Field Trials and working tests with Laradors and Spaniels. Since 2016, Clare has competed in the IGL Retriever Championship four times. Most recently, she qualified her first Cocker Spaniel for the Kennel Club Cocker Spaniel Championship in 2024.

She has made up three Field Trial Champion Labradors and has an Open Field Trial winning Cocker Spaniel.

In 2016, she was selected to represent England with FTCh Windoogpack Coral as part of the Home International Field Trial. This special occasion was organised to celebrate the late HM The Queen’s 90th Birthday at Great Windsor Park.
